The Avalokiteshvara ritual serves as a profound spiritual practice focused on Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva embodying compassion. It entails establishing a purpose to call upon Avalokiteshvara’s blessings, compassion, and wisdom. The process starts with purifying the area, setting up an altar, and presenting bowls of water, flowers, or incense. One of the most frequently recited phrases is Om Mani Padme Hum, thought to summon compassion, purify negative karma, and promote inner tranquility. Practitioners might find themselves immersed in a meditation focused on compassion, envisioning the reception of Avalokiteshvara’s blessings and permitting compassion to emerge organically. Upon concluding the ritual, participants offer the merit accumulated for the benefit of all beings. Certain customs wrap up with prayers or extra chants.
