The Bhumpa is a sacred vessel used in Tibetan Buddhist practices for healing purposes. Bhumpa is commonly used to store holy water during Buddhist teachings. The Bhumpa vase features a lengthy spout that allows for easy pouring of water. Additionally, it can be paired with a detachable water sprinkler adorned with a Peacock feather. Many people have faith in the power of holy water to cleanse and ward off negative energy and malevolent entities. Two matching Bhumpa’s are used during the performance of certain Tantric rituals.
These vases are commonly referred to as the “chief” or “principal” vase, and the “action” or “working” vase. The main vase contains sacred water and is kept on the altar in the monastery or temple, while the other vase is used to pour water for purification at different points in the ritual.
