Description
Manjushri is the Bodhisattva of Wisdom and is the same bodhisattva as Adi Buddha. Manjushri is the guardian god of astrology and a general guardian of teachers. Manjushri is often thought of as the Buddha’s knowledge come to life. Manjushri has the flaming double sword of analytic discrimination in his right hand. Its purpose is to destroy ignorance, which is the root cause of pain and endless existence. The book of transcendent knowledge, the Prajnaparamita sutra, is on top of the blue lotus in the left hand Manjushri is worshiped because it gives people control over the Dharma, and he is thought to be the father of Kathmandu. The Kathmandu valley used to be a lake where Vipaswi Buddha threw some lotus seeds. These seeds turned into a lotus flower with a thousand petals. The flower gave off five different lights, which stood for the five Buddhas. The light came to rest on the peak at Swayambhu after Manjushri cut through the valley walls with his sword of knowledge.

A Manjushri Thangka Ritual is a meditation practice that uses a traditional Tibetan Buddhist painting of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, as a central object. The ritual involves cleaning the space, setting up the thangka, gathering ritual items, and invoking Manjushri’s blessings to develop wisdom, clarity, and insight.
Artist:
Our master artisan, Rumba Lama, trained in the Tibetan tradition, painted this exquisite thangka.
Thangka Brocade:
Silk brocade borders traditionally encircle Thangkas. Silk fabric serves as the material for weaving brocade. We can provide brocade service upon request. Please let us know at info@buddhistcrafts.com if you are interested in this service; we will provide you with samples.
Thangka Consecration:
If you wish to consecrate Thangka, then please let us know. You can use the ritual to consecrate any representation of the body, speech, and mind. Once you order the Thangka and request consecration, we will complete it within two days. Rinpoche or a qualified lama from a Tibetan monastery will help perform this service. Rinpoche will bless the Thangka after consecration if he is available.
We kindly request a small donation of $25–40 for the monastery in recognition of his service.
