Description
Artisans decorate the statue with carefully placed turquoise and coral stones to add color and meaning. They carve deep, detailed designs into the surface, showcasing their skill and vision. This Green Tara statue serves as both a spiritual symbol and a work of art, demonstrating compassion and the finest Himalayan metalwork. It stands out as a potential centerpiece in any space, offering blessings, protection, and peace.
She is more than a savior; she is the “Mother of All Buddhas” and stands for quick, caring action. Her posture, with her right leg extended and ready to step down from her lotus throne, shows she is always ready to help. She protects from the “eight great fears,” which include both physical and spiritual dangers.
The Materials & Craftsmanship:
- Pure Copper Body: Lost-wax casting with pure copper is an old and challenging method. Copper is strong and allows for deep carving, making it an excellent base for the sacred statue.
- Gold and Silver Gilding: This is the traditional gilding method, a master-level technique. A paste of precious metal (gold for the skin, often silver for details like jewelry or clothing patterns) is applied.
- Deep Carving: The Artisan has used the deep carving method to create three-dimensional highlights that bring the figure to life with sacred meaning.
- Precious Stone Inlay: This statue is embedded with turquoise, a sky stone, which represents the boundless heavens, wisdom, and protection, and coral stands for life force, energy, and the strength of kind words. Its warm color contrasts with the cooler tones of gold and turquoise.
