Description
The Buddha sits peacefully on a colorful lotus seat, holding a myrobalan flower in his left hand to symbolize healing and an alms bowl with the nectar of immortality in his right. The artist paints his body a deep lapis-lazuli blue, representing strong healing energy, awakened wisdom, and the power to remove all kinds of illness. This blue also stands for his Pure Land, Vaiduryanirbhāsa, or the Realm of Lapis Light.
Behind the Buddha, a soft circular halo and aura show purity rising above suffering. The artist paints a peaceful landscape with flowing water, blooming flowers, gentle hills, trees, and animals, creating a feeling of a pure and balanced world, free from pain and disorder. These natural details highlight Medicine Buddha’s role as a healer for everyone, bringing balance to our lives inside and out.
At the base of the throne, auspicious offerings symbolize devotion, gratitude, and the wish for health, long life, and spiritual well-being.
