The Chenrezig statue is a significant ritual in Tibetan Buddhism that holds the transformative power to cultivate compassion, loving-kindness, and spiritual wisdom.

The ritual involves clearing the area, creating a sacred space, and setting up offerings in a circle around the statue. Common offerings include water bowls, flowers, incense, lighting options, and fruits and food. The ceremony begins with lighting candles or lamps to symbolize illumination of the path to enlightenment.

Invoking Chenrezig is done by reciting prayers or chants, such as “I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. May all beings benefit from my practice.” The mantra of compassion is recited while focusing on the Chenrezig statue, with mala (prayer beads) used to count repetitions. Visualizing compassionate light emanating from the statue fills the heart and extends to all beings.

The ceremony concludes with dedication and closing, with prostrations performed to show respect and gratitude. The daily use of the Chenrezig statue includes morning practice, morning reflection, and evening reflection. These practices aim to cleanse the mind from impurities, promote compassion, and encourage spiritual wisdom.
