The Vajrakilaya Statue Ritual in Tibetan Buddhism is a practice aimed at invoking the blessings of the powerful deity Vajrakilaya (Dorje Phurba) to remove obstacles, dispel negative energies, and gain spiritual protection.
The ritual begins with purifying the space and oneself, followed by making offerings and taking refuge. It includes seven traditional offerings: water, flowers, incense, light, perfume, and food. Practitioners perform three prostrations before the statue.
During the ritual, the Vajrakilaya mantra is chanted 108 times using a mala to build spiritual energy. Visualization and connection are essential components, with practitioners envisioning Vajrakilaya radiating intense blue or dark fire-like energy. The phurba (dagger) is visualized as cutting through negativity and dissolving obstacles in one’s life.
If the practice is conducted in a monastery or under the guidance of a lama, a fire puja (jinsek) may be performed to symbolically burn away obstacles. The ritual concludes with a dedication prayer and silent meditation.
This practice is widely used by tantric practitioners to clear both inner and outer hindrances.
